Henry was born in 1810. He arrived in the US in 1839 and applied for citizenship on March 9, 1846. He Americanized his name to Henry Fox, being born Georges Henri Fuchs.
In the Bas-Rhin area of Alsace, France, his trade was listed as a weaver. After immigrating, he settled in Marion Township, Beaver County, PA and pursued farming.
