Biography

Lt. Solomon Fuller, Jr. was born on 9 Feb 1737 in Bertie, North Carolina to parents Solomon Fuller and Mary Hargraves Jones. He died on 19 Nov 1921 in Laurens, South Carolina.l He married after Aug 1761 in Granville, North Carolina to Ogilvia "Gilley" or "Gillie" Avent, daughter of William Avent and Sarah Massie of Northampton, North Carolina, who was born about 1742 in Granville, North Carolina. Solomon and Gilley were buried in Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurens, South Carolina.

Solomon served in the Revolutionary War from Laurens, South Carolina.

"In the name of God amen. I Solomon Fuller of South Carolina Laurens District being of sound and disposing mind and memory blessed be God do this 26th day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixteen make and publishe this my las Will and Testament in manner following that is to say 1st I give to my son Avent Fuller One Negro man named Charles, 2nd I give to my son Solomon Fuller One Negro woman named Isbel, 3rd I give to my son William Fuller One Negro woman named Toriby, and her two children Bluford and Charles, 4th I give to my son John Fuller One Negro man named James, 5th I give to my son Ransom Fuller One Negro woman named Tabb, One Negro man named Frederick, and One Negro boy Terry, but I lend the said negro woman Tabb to my beloved Wife Gilly Fuller during her life or remains my widow, 6th I give to my son Alsey Fuller One Negro boy named Stephen, One Negro boy named Lewis and one negro boy named Andrew, and one feather bed. I also give to my sons Ransom and Alsey, All my Tract of land, the west side of my spring Branch, running up to my son Avent's line, to Ransom, and the East side to Alsey, 7th I lend to my daughter Charlotte Fuller one negro boy named Willis, one negro boy named George and one negro girl named Isbel, during her natural life and at her death to be equally divided among all her children, 8th I lend to my daughter Sarah Coleman One negro woman named Amy and her five children, Bob, Dick, Phebe, Peter, and Charles, during her natural life, and then to be equally divided among all her (the s'd Sarah Coleman's) children, 9th lend to my granddaughter Gilley Green one negro girl named Nance and one negro boy named Frank during her life, (illegible), if she should have any and if none, then to be equally divided among all my children. I appoint my wife to keep the property of Gilley A. Green until she marries or becomes twenty one years old, and if my wife dies before that time for my sons Solomon and Alsey to take care of the s'd Gilley A. Green and her property until the time of her death, marriage or becomes twenty one, 10th I give to my son in law William Green twenty shillings sterling, 11th I lend to my beloved wife One negro man named Dick, one negro woman named Rose, one negro boy named Isac, one negro boy Jacob, and negro boy named Dave, one negro boy named Ben, one negro boy named Jack, during her natural life or she remains my widow, I likewise lend her all my goods and chattels, lands, stock and every other article during her life or my widow. I want my negro man Harry to choose where he will life if they will (illegible) or marriage of my wife. I want all the negroes I lend her to be equally divided among my children, (illegible) Solomon, William, John, Charlotte and Sarah, and all the rest of the property to be equally divided among all my children. I do hereby make and ordain my beloved wife Gilley Fuller, and my son Solomon Fuller Executors to this my last Will and Testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, the day and date above written."
