Biography

He was the son of William Fuller and Bethia Wellingham. He was born about 1735, based on his age of 61 when he died.


He passed away in 1796. The newspaper stated

A few days since died Thomas Fuller Esq Banker of Lombard Street , London [1]

Thomas was buried on 28 December 1796 at Bunhill Fields burial ground, used by nonconformists[2]. The burial recorded stated he was 61 years old, from Ponders End [3]

Support for religious and charitable causes

Thomas was listed as a supporter of the Society for Promoting Religious Knowledge among the poor in the 1763 report and the 1779 report which the charity published. The report recorded him as Thomas Fuller of Leadenhall Street and that he had been a supporter since 1759

Thomas Fuller Esq. Lombard Street was listed as a supporter of the Humane Society in their 1784 [4] and 1786 publications [5]

Support for political causes

On 2nd December 1795 a Declaration of Merchants, Bankers, Traders and other inhabitants of London, was made at Grocers Hall, City of London. It was signed by about 7000 merchants and traders in London, in support of the Government, in the context of political unrest linked to the French Revolution, it includes names, addresses and some occupations for 1795. The declaration was signed by Thos Fuller Banker, Lombard Street [6]The declaration was also signed by his father W Fuller Banker, Lombard Street

Geo Fuller and Richard Fuller are also listed, bankers from Cornhill, but these are still to be identified.
