Research Notes

Archibald F. Bennett, FASG, wrote a book on how to do genealogy, available via HathiTrust[1]. On pages 225-236, he uses the example of the Fuller family of Redenhall to demonstrate how to walk through English records of the 16th and 17th centuries.

In the discussion on page 233 of this discussion, Bennett concludes that the Robert Fuller born to Robert in 1581 was not the son of Robert and Sara Dunkhorn but was the son of a second Robert Fuller who was having children in Redenhall at the time, based on an analysis of extant wills.

His Will names his wife as Frances. Ah it is his father's will that names FRances who also died in 1614 and as no RObert is mentioned in the will I don't think but I've only glanced at it quickly he must have predeceased his father

Thank you, Ann. You are referring to Robert Sr.'s will?

Oh blast I didn’t leave the link to the Will. I’ll find it=again and have a read of it. I should transcribe. I’ll try and do this week.

Yes Robert Senior’s will. Also I left a comment on his page that second wife was Frances Corbin/Corbyn with a link to an image of a marriage licence.

Thank you, Mr. Smith. This is interesting.

He is probably the son of Robert the tanner, not Robert Fuller butcher. His christening is too soon after that of Samuel and way to late for the christening of John. Also, unlike the other two, his christening does not have a father with “butcher” after his name.
