Biography

Olive was born about 1797. She was the daughter of Jones Fuller and Sarah Bradford. She is mentioned in her father's will, but the handwriting was mistaken as Alice Bailey. She passed away after 1870 when she was enumerated on the Fannin Co., Texas census.

Olive married Jeremiah Bailey, son of Jeremiah Bailey and Lucretia Fuller. Another Jeremiah Bailey married Martha _______ about the same time, and all their data has been conflated for years. Olive was sometimes called "Ollie" but she was not Martha Olive.

In 1830 Jeremiah is on the Henderson Co., TN Census with: 1 m under 10; 2 m under 15; 1 m 40-50; 4 f under 5!; 2 f under 10; 1 f under 15; 1 f 30-40

In 1837 Jeremiah appears on the Henderson Co., TN tax list.[1] But by 1840 Jeremiah had died, and Olive was listed as head of household in the 1840 census.

Captain Jones Fuller's will 01 May 1812:
Item I give to my daughter Ollis (Ollie?) Bailey my young filly called the rock filly and one hundred dollars to said Ollis (Ollie?) Bailey.

Among the loose Estate Papers in Franklin Co. NC, in 1816 Jeremiah Bailey was summoned to answer to Bartholomew E. and Ephraim Fuller, the executors of Jones Fuller’s will.

Olive Fuller Bailey's brothers Ephraim, Jordan, and Warren Fuller all lived and died in Henderson Co. TN.

1850 Olive Bailey and family was living in St. Clair, MO.[2]

The 1850 census shows seven of her children living with her: Cary/Clary, A.A., Felix, Rachel, Timothy, Elam, and Isham. She had moved to St. Clair Co., Missouri where her older children had settled: Jones, Jeptha, Frances (Culbertson and two of her children living with her brother Josiah), Tignal, Mary Catherine (Jackson), and Josiah Nickolas are all living in the county. Addison hasn't been located, but he is there in 1860, newly married and living with his in-laws.

In 1860 Olive is still in Missouri, living with her son Elam, his wife, and baby son.

In 1870, Olive and Rachel have moved to Fannin Co., TX, with Elam and are helping him raise his now 11-year-old son. (Also living with them and working on the farm is Bailey Fuller, 19, son of Joel Conyers Fuller, who was the son of Olive's brother Jordan Fuller. Other members of the Fuller, Lawler, and Teague families had previously settled in Fannin County.)
