Biography
John Fuqua is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.
John was born about 1742. He was the son of Joseph Fuqua and Anna Sampson. He passed away about 1830.
21 October, 1782: Deed of Trust - Joseph Fuqua to Joseph Fuqua Jnr and Jacob McGehee, Powhatan Co to William Fuqua, John Fuqua, sons of Joseph; Willliam & Jane Sampson, Bridge Beasley, William & Margaret Weatherford, John & Elizabeth Hill, Sara & Jacob McGehee, daughters of Joseph. "in consideration that the said Joseph Fuqua is now advanced in age and for some time past infirm so as not to be able to look after his own business," slaves to be held in trust for his children, Rec 18 Oct 1782.
