The family lived in or around the Plankinton area for three decades until Orin was arrested and sent to South Dakota State Penitentiary in 1931. Like many of her children, Iva moved to the Rochester, Monroe, New York area in 1933, where she settled with her daughter, Lucy, and her husband, Edward Geil, in Fairport, which is where she lived for the rest of her life.
Iva passed away on 22 July 1942 at Genesee Hospital in Rochester after suffering from an illness. She was buried on her birthday in Oakwood Cemetery in Penfield.
