Biography

Birth and Early Childhood

Fannie was born July 1865 in Indiana to Ira Fusselman and Emaline Gordon. She was one of five children who lived to adulthood.

Occupation

Fannie was a well known elocution teacher in Vermilion County, Illinois.[1]

Family

Fannie married Valentine Barlow in 1885. She was 11 years younger than him. They had one child, a daughter, Marie Barlow in 1887. The three of them lived with Fannie's Parent's in Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois in 1900. In 1910, when Fannie was 43, she was recorded as the head of household. Valentine is not shown as living at their home according to the 1910 Census. Fannie's mother, Emaline was still living at the time with Fannie and family. Although the census of 1910 shows Fannie still married, the whereabouts of Valentine are unknown. Since he is documented to be a locomotive engineer, it is possible he was working and living elsewhere.
