Biography

Maria (Gabbett) Minchin was born in Ireland.

Maria Gabbett was born in about 1767. She was the daughter of William Gabbett and Jane Maunsell.

She married Lieutenant Falkiner Minchin (the son of John Minchin and Caroline Falkiner) on Thursday, 7 September 1786 at Cathedral St Mary, Limerick, Ireland^[1]. Notice of their marriage was printed in Saunders's Newsletter dated 13 September 1786, page 2:

ln Limerick, Faulkner Minchin, Efq. Lieutenant in the 27th regiment, to Mifs Gabbett.^[2]

They went on to have at least eight children.

Maria Minchin passed away on 24 February 1807. Notice of her passing was printed on page 3 of the Limerick Gazette dated 3 March 1807:

DEATHS.

On Tuesday last in Dublin, where she arrived from Bath on Saturday preceding, Mrs Minchin, lady of Falkiner Esq. and daughter of the late Alderman William Gabbett, of this city.^[3]
