Death Notice

Broad Arrow 28 November 1868, page 21:
MAJOR ROBERT POOLE GABBETT died at Woolwich on the 18th inst., greatly regretted by the whole of the officers of the corps at that station. The Limerick Chronicle, speaking of his death, says: "It is with regret we announce the death, at Woolwich, on 18th inst., after a brief illness, of Major Robert Poole Gabbett, R.A., youngest son of the late Poole Gabbett, Esq., of Corbally House, and son-in-law of Mrs. John Gabbett, of this city, lately deceased, sincerely regretted by his bereft family, numerous friends and relatives. He had only a short time previously arrived from America, where he served for several years. It is not long since we announced the gallant gentleman's promotion to his majority, and we believe that, had he lived, he would in a short time be raised another step.[4]

His will was proved on 12 December 1868 to Anna Maria Gabbett, his widow and sole Executrix.[5] Effects under £3,000.
