DAD AND STEP MOM In 1897 Andreas Gabert remarried, giving his hand to Emilie Bloch. She was a good help meet and understanding stepmother for the children. Following the turn of the century things gradually began to look brighter; the Bruderheim district received many newcomers; road were opened up; schools were built; farms yielding good crops of grain were established; Alberta Became a province of the Dominion of Canada in 1905 with Edmonton as the Capital city, After a rather lengthy illness Andreas Christian Gabert died on April 25, 1906, having been in Canada barley 10 years. He was survived by his second wife and 6 children. Two years later Emilie Gabert was married to a Mr. Riske, Leaving the children behind on their father’s Homestead.
