Leander was born in Ohio 1818, the son of Reason Gabriel and Elizabeth Bobo. In Indiana he married Sarah A. Lattin in 1841[1]. After her death in 1856, he married Serelda H. Thompson in 1857.[2]. He passed away in Arkansas in 1881, approximately four weeks following the amputation of his leg, according to a letter written by his son-in-law W. A. Arnold[3]. Leander is buried in Crawford County, Arkansas[4].
