Hans was born in the village of Bogården in Arbrå 28 August 1816 to the unwed tailor's daughter Margta Hansdotter Bolin. Evidently his mother had returned home to her parents, Hans Bolin and Margta Hansdotter, to give birth. We can follow her back to the farm in Bogården where she served at the time of conception, where it is no surprise to also find a farm hand by name Gabriel, last name Forsberg.
Hans' parents married in December 1818 (the household record says November 1819). They seem to have lived in Bollnäs for some time, but came back to stay with Margta's parents in 1820.
1827 Hans Gabrielsson is still in Bogården, fostered with his grandparents. (If we turn the page we can see that his parents and his younger brother moved to Bollnäs parish in 1827.)
1831 Hans is fostered in Koldemo, with yeoman Erik Ersson and his wife Sigrid Hansdotter. (Might be a younger sister of Hans' grandmother).
1832 Hans is back with his parents for a while. Gabriel Forsberg is now a farmer in Koldemo #11.
1835-1839 Farm hand in Bogården. There is a note that he sponsored the churching of Karin Ersdotter as his betrothed - they evidently had a premarital child.
In 1839 Hans Gabrielsson and Karin Ersdotter are in the household of Hans' parents with their premarital son Eric. Hans and Karin are installed as crofters under Gabriel Forsberg's farm, where they have the daughter Margta in 1844. Hans Gabrielsson is widowed in 1849. He seems to have remarried at the soonest. His second wife is Stina Salomonsdotter. Hans and Stina have a son by name Hans, who eventually takes the surname Berg.
3 November 1874 the crofter Hans Gabrielsson in Koldemo died in a drunken state on the road between Hamrånge and Skog, presumably from a stroke.
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Hans by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Hans:
