Biography

Joseph Gaca was born in 1922 [1] to Andrew Gaca and Helen Ziomkowski. In 1977, he was living in Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States. [2]

Joseph's father passed away unexpectedly in 1930, and his mother was in an in-patient treatment facility.

In 1940, Joseph was living in Ward 1, Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan, United States with his sister, Lucille, and her husband, Felix Koltak, as well as his siblings, Raymond and Rose Marie. Joseph was attending school. [3]

Joseph's obituary reads: "Mr. Joseph P. Gaca, age 90, of Grand Rapids went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Surviving are his dear wife of 64 years, Lucille (Rocchi); two children, Kathleen (Thomas) Fewless, Dr. Phillip (Ellen) Gaca; three grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Fewless, Patrick (Sarah) Fewless, Anthony (Lauren) Gaca; brother-in- law, Frank and Sue Rocchi; sister-in-law, Rita Riolo; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joseph was always there to lend a helping hand to others in need. He was preceded in death by his three siblings, Rosemary Chlebana, Lucille Koltax and Raymond Gaca. He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Club, member of St.James Ushers Club, longtime member of St. James Catholic Church and the Italian American Club of West Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial and Committal Service will be celebrated Wednesday 11:00 am at St. James Church where he will repose one hour prior to the Mass. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. His family will receive visitors Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Stocking Mortuary, 585 Stocking NW where a Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St, Ann' Home c/o Sr. Gabriella. Josephs' family wished to express their gratitude to the staff of St. Ann's home for their compassionate care." [4]
