Thomas was born in 1900 at Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, the son of Thomas Gadd and Sarah Ann Gillooley. [1]
In the 1901 census Thomas was living with his parents at 38 Sydney St, Hanley, Stoke on Trent. He was aged just 1 year. [2]
In the 1911 census the family was living at 46 Sydney St, Hanley. Thomas was aged 10 years. [3]
Thomas Gadd married Mary Cain in 1929 at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stoke on Trent. [4]
This couple had three children.
The 1939 Register, taken on 29 September 1939, has been described as a snapshot of the civilian population of England and Wales just after the outbreak of the Second World War. The Register recorded each person's address, date of birth and occupation.
At that time Thomas and Mary were residing at 17 Loftus Street, Stoke-On-Trent. Thomas, born on 8 August 1900, was aged 39. He was labourer at a coking plant. Mary, born 2 May 1899, was aged 40. The records for their two sons remain closed at this time [2020]. Daughter Mary, born 22 August 1935, was aged 4. Her surname was later amended to her married name of Grundy. [5]
Thomas Gadd died on 4 February 1958 aged 57 years. [6]
Mary Gadd died in 1986 aged 87 years. [7]
