Biography

Martha A. Gaddis was born in Ohio, 1837 [testimony],^[1] the daughter of Abner Gaddis (alias Abner Landes) and his wife, Martha Byal.^[2] Martha (Gaddis) Firestone died in Oklahoma, 10 August 1896, and was buried at Fairlawn Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.^[3]

Martha Gaddis married in Wayne County, 18 August 1857, George L. Firestone.^[4] He was born probably East Union Township, Wayne County, Ohio, 23 May 1831^{[citation needed]} or 28 May 1831 [family bible].^[5] He died in East Union Township, 7 May 1873 and was the son of George Firestone and his wife, and Rebecca Carle.^[6]

George Firestone and his wife, Martha Gaddis, were the parents of six children,^[7][8]

1. Harriet Melissa Firestone, born Wayne County, Ohio, 11 December 1858, died Larned, Pawnee County, Kansas, 22 October 1941; married Jacob Quinby Shoup.
2. Alice Firestone, born Wayne County, Ohio, 1860; married in Wayne County, Ohio, 1 December 1881, Elmer Ellsworth Chaffin.
3. Clara Belle Firestone, born Wayne County, Ohio, 1862, died Cimmarron, Gray County, Kansas, 1902.^[9]
4. William "Willis" Firestone, born Wayne County, Ohio, 1865.
5. Harry Beacher "Hod" Firestone, born Applecreek, Wayne County, Ohio, 6 July 1868, 6 July 1868, died in Garden City, Finney County, Kansas, 2 February 1961; married 15 February 1894, Nettie May Hiatt.
6. Lilly May Firestone, Wayne County, Ohio, 13 May 1871,^[10] died Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, 9 March 1900.
