Biography
John was born in 1878 and passed away in 1919. He was the Auditor of Dillion County, South Carolina. He died of influenza at an age 41.
J. W. Gaddy, auditor of Dillon County, died today about 1 o'clock of pneumonia, superinduced by influenza. He was 41 years old, was reared as one of the very best officers of the county and was highly esteemed by everyone for his integrity, honor and uprightness. He was appointed to the office about three years ago and had held the office ever since. Mr. Gaddy leaves a large family connection in the county, having several brothers and sisters living at Latta, near which he was born. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Jennie Brunson, and one son, J. W. Gaddy, about ten years old. He was a Mason and was treasurer of Mackey Lodge. Mr. Gaddy was also a member of the W.O.W. and Junior Order and was besides a Christian.
