Holden, age 41, enlisted on 25 February 1862, mustered into Company I, 43rd North Carolina Infantry, CSA, on 2 April 1862 as a private.[1] He suffered a casualty on 16 May 1864, was hospitalized at the Hospital Richmond, Virginia, and died there 17 July 1864..[1]
