My last name is Gage but I am not biologically related to many Gages because my father's actual name should have been Giddings. His mother was divorced from his biological father when he was 2 years old, his mother remarried a man named Gage, and my father was given his step-father's last name. My father's mother's family name was Bassett, which traces back to William Bassett, who joined the Pilgrims in 1621 on the ship Fortune. I also descend from Richard Warren, passenger on the Mayflower in 1620.
