Biography
François, the son of Pierre Gagne and Marie Josephte Charbonneau, was born 28 September 1800 and baptized the following day. The Saint-Paul parish register identifies him as "François né la nuit précédent du légitime mariage de Pierre Gagné laboureur de cette paroisse et de Marie Charbonneau son épouse, le parrain a été François Dalfe dit Parijeau et la marraine Marie Louise Laperché épouse de Jean Baptiste Pérault."[1]
On 4 August 1828, he married Elisabeth Savoie. The Sainte-Elisabeth parish register states that the marriage was between "François Gagné fils majeur de Pierre Gagné et de Marie Charbonneau de la paroisse de St Paul d'une part, et Elizabeth Savoie fille majeure de Joseph Savoie et de Marie Louise Lirette de cette paroisse d'autre part . . . .en présence de François Charrette, D'Antoine Gendron."[2]
