Obituaryr 3, 2003 at his home. He was born September 8, 1913 at St. Joseph, the son of Alphonse Gagnon and Regina LeBlanc Gagnon. He grew up in Salina and attended Sacred Heart Grade School and was a graduate of the Sacred Heart High School. He also attended Kansas Wesletan University at Salina. He was an accomplished athlete, participating in baseball, tennis, and golf. While in high school, he was a member of the first Sacred Heart state basketball championship team. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Agnes Ludes. They were married 67 years. Mr. Gagnon lived in Salina for several years before moving to Manhattan, where he was a resident for over 48 years. He worked as a sales representative for the Lee Hardware Company in Salina for over 43 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Elks Lodge No. 1185 and the Knights of Columbus for over 68 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. In addition to his wife, Mr. Gagnon is survived by a daughter, Pat McKenna, and her husband Tim, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sons, Mike Gagnon and his wife Nancy, Centerville, Ohio, and Tom Gagnon and his wife, Mary, Denver, Colorado; a brother, Charles Gagnon and his wife Brenda, Manhattan; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited at 730pm Friday in the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, Manhattan. Mass of Christian Burial will be with private family inurnment services at a later date in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan. Memorial contribution can be made to the Manhattan Catholic Schools and left in care of the funeral home. [3]
