Biography

Albénie was born in Barachois on 18 Jun 1891. He is the son of Hypolite Gagnon and Olive Leger.[1] He married Sophie Thériault in Barachois on 5 Jul 1915.[2] He passed away at age 89 in Shediac on 24 May 1981.

M. Albénie Gagnon, de la Villa Providence à Shediac et autrefois de Dupuis Corner, est décédé le dimanche 24 mai à l’hôpital Moncton, après une courte maladie, à l’Âge de 89 ans. Né à Dupuis Corner, il était le fils de Hypolite P. et Olive (née Léger) Gagnon. Il était un employé retiré du CN et était membre honoraire du Club d’âge d’or de Barachois. Son épouse, née Sophie Thériault, l’a précédé dans la tombe en 1971. II laisse dans le deuil, une fille et cinq fils: Mme Guy Savoie (Camilla), de Saint-Anselme; Paul-Eugène de Cocagne; Alcide, de Bathurst; Dr Joseph, de Moncton; frère Merville, f.i.c., à Moncton et Jean-Guy, de Moncton. Il laisse également deux soeurs et un frère: Mme Alma Léger, Mlle Delphine, et Zénon, tous de Fitchburg, Mass., ainsi que 25 petits-enfants et 12 arrière-petits-enfants. Un fils, Aquila de Shediac, l’a précédé dans !a tombe en 1979. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à partir de 19h ce soir au salon funéraire Frenette à Shediac. Les funérailles auront lieu mercredi à l6h en l’église St-Henri-du-Barachois avec inhumation dans le cimetière paroissial.L'Évangéline Moncton, NB Lundi, 25 mai 1981
