Amante Gaines, daughter of Edmund Pendleton Gaines and Mary Jane (Toulmin) Gaines, was born on 18 Sep. 1849 in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama.[1]
She married Aristide Joseph B. Hamelin, son of Felix Peter Hamelin and Anita Palmas (or Palmer) Hamelin, on 7 May 1867 at Mobile County, Alabama.[2] Aristide and Amante were divorced about 1869.[3]
She and her children appeared on the census of 2 Aug. 1870 in the home of her parents at Mobile County, Alabama.[4]
She married Oliver J. Semmes on 17 Dec. 1873 at Mobile County, Alabama.[5]
Amente died on 27 Oct. 1889 at Mobile County, Alabama and was buried at Magnolia Cemetery, Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama. Her memorial has a photo of her headstone and links to those of family members.[1]
