"In the same year (1840) Parks post office was established with Felix G. Gaines as postmaster" (History of Scott County Arkansas, 1922.

1850 Scott County, Arkansas, Parks, Dwelling/Family #121/121: Felix G. GAINES, 36, male, farmer, real estate $500, Virginia; Rebeccca GAINES, 25, female, Mississippi; Martha GAINES, 3, female, Arkansas; Cornelius GAINES, 1 1/12, male, Arkansas.

1850 Census Agriculture Schedule: Felix G. Gains owned 50 acres of improved land and 60 acres of unimproved, valued at $300.00. His farming implements were valued at $80.00 and he had 4 horses, 1 ass or mule, 5 milch cows, 2 working oxen, 12 other cattle, 19 sheep and 65 swine valued at $547.00. His farm had produced 20 bushels of wheat, 700 bushels of Indian corn, 100 bushels of oats, 2 bales of cotton, 8 lbs. of wool, 20 bushels of peas and beans, 15 bushels of Irish potatoes, 30 bushels of sweet potatoes and 200 lbs. of butter valued at $50.00. "Records show Redmon Grisby Gaines was born in Culpeper County, Virginia and at about the age of 16 (about 1830) the family moved to Tennessee, town and county unknown. Inasmuch as he was the fourth son, it is to be presumed that Felix Grundy Gaines was also born in Culpeper County, Virginia and moved to Tennessee with the family. In 1843, Cornelius Gaines and his wife and three brothers and three sisters moved to Waldron, Scott County, Arkansas." ("The Gaines Family Tree" typescript, page 6.)

He is probably buried in an unmarked grave at Jameson Cemetery.
