Oliver was born in 1891 in the Colony of Victoria, the son of John Gainger and Hannah Bevan. [1]
He joined the AIF in WW1. Service number 2294, Rank Private, Unit 46th Australian Infantry Battalion, Service Australian Imperial Force, Conflict/Operation First World War, 1914-1918, Conflict Eligibility Date, First World War, 1914-1921.
