Biography

Guillaume (Galais) Gallet migrated from France to Acadia.

Guillaume was born about 1691, possibly in Bretagne, France. ^[1][2] He was the son of Guillaume Galais and Unknown Giguet, from Bretagne, France. ^[3]

He married Françoise Chiasson, daughter of Gabriel Chiasson and Marie Savoie on 7 Feb 1722 at Beaubassin. ^{[4] [5]}

Guillaume and Françoise were listed in the 1728 census at Havre St-Pierre, Isle Saint-Jean, with their son and 2 daughters. He was a "maître de chaloupe" (rowboat master?) and had arrived on the island in 1722.^[2]

They were counted again in the 1730 census at Port St-Pierre. There were now 4 children in the family home. No posessions were listed.^[7]

He passed away at about 48 years of age on 3 February 1739 and was buried the same day in Saint-Pierre-du Nord. ^[8]
