Biography

BIRTH
William Layton Galbraith was born the eldest child on the 12th January 1862 at Kaysville, Davis County, Utah Territory to parents William Wilkie Galbraith (1838-1898) and his wife Elizabeth Layton (1844-1908).[1]

William's parents were early LDS Pioneers his parents having married on the 11th April 1861 at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah Territory.

Brief background of his parents William Layton Galbraith's father immigrated, as a child, from Scotland with his mother (this profile's grandmother), her 2nd husband, sblings and half-siblings in 1848. They later making their way to the Utah Territory by wagon train company from the Port of New Orleans in 1854.

This profile's mother, Elizabeth (Layton) Galbraith, was born at Nauvoo, Hancock, illinois in 1844, her parents (Christopher and Mary (Mathews) Layton) having married on the 20th June 1842, Northill, Bedfordshire, England, United Kingdom and having soon there-after converted to the Mormon faith then emigrating to the United States. William Layton Galbraith's maternal grandmother Mary died in 1845 and his mother (Elizabeth Layton) was adopted into the William and Ann (Barnes) Smith family before their LDS migration to the Utah Territory.

William Layton Gabraith married 1st Ann Elizabeth Bodily (1866-1904) in about 1887 and they had the following children:

  5. Vera Bodily Galbraith, b. 28 Oct 1894, Kaysville
  6. Christine Bodily Galbraith, b. 22 Jul 1896, Kaysville
  7. Mary Bodily Galbraith, b. 7 Feb 1898, Kaysville
  8. Leland Bodily Galbraith, b. 26 Sep 1900, Kaysvile
  9. Wilkie William Galbraith, b. 5 jan 1903, Lorenzo, Jefferson, Idaho

After the death of his first wife he married 2nd Annie Pearl Curtis (1887-1963) , age twenty-one years, on the 10th February 1909 Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah [2] and they relocated to Rexburg, Madison County, Idaho where they had the following children.

  2. Loyd Curtis Galbraith, b. 21 Mar 1911, Rexburg
  3. Norma Curtis Galbraith, b. 16 Oct 1012, Rexburg

DEATH
William passed away the 28th November 1917, Ammon, Bonneville County, Idaho. [1]
