Biography
Elizabeth Gale, daughter of Ambrose Gale, was baptized 17 May 1663, in Salem, Massachusetts.[1]
There is no record of her marriage to Thomas Rootes, but we know it took place because, Thomas Roots, of Boston, died about 1684 and left a will, dated 18 Sep 1683, that specifically named his wife Elizabeth and his father-in-law Ambrose Gale of Marblehead.[2] Ambrose was appointed administrator of his estate an guardian of his daughter Mary. "Ambros Gale is grantd Adm. upon the Estate of Thomas Rootes late of Boston marrinr deced. in right of Mary daughter of sd Thomas Rootes & Grand daughter of sd. Ambros, and also appointed Guardian unto the sd. Mary."[3]
