Biography

Mrs. Bessie S. Gaul of RD 3, Punxsutawney died Sunday, October 29, 1978 in the M & L Country Manor in Burnside Township. She was 76 years of age. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the United Church of Christ in Troutville, the Rev. Barry W. Fillman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Gaul was born October 27, 1902 in Clover Run, the daughter of Clark and Ida Bennett Galentine. She was married April 19, 1925 to the late Harmon Gaul. She was a member of the United Methodist Church Women's Club of Big Run and the United Church of Christ in Troutville. Surviving are four sons: Lewis of Angola, NY; Everett of Punx'y; Thomas (Jay) of Reynoldsville; and Lee of Harbor Creek; five daughters: Mrs. Charlotte Douthit and Mrs. Velma Beck, both of Reynoldsville; Mrs. Marion Burkett and Mae Burkett, both of Punx'y; Mrs. Faye Snyder of Luthersburg; three sisters: Mrs. Dora Freas and Mrs. Clara Peace, both of DuBois; Mrs. Mae Vivoda of Punx'y; two brothers: Ralph Gallentine of Rathmel and Clyde Gallentine of Troutville; 33 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
