Biography
Sonia was born in 1919. She was the daughter of John Galey and Rosetta Brooks.
In 1937 she married William Pierce Holmwood. They divorced in the 1960's at Nelson. [1]
William Pierce Holmwood was the son of Florence Esther and Arthur Harry Holwood. William was the brother of Harry Claude (Jim) Holmwood.
Sonia and William settled in Takaka and William was employed as a Labourer. By 1963 Sonia was working as a Cook and William was employed at the Mill.
Sonia later remarried before 1972 to Harry Claude Holwood, a Farmer. They settled at Motupipi. Harry later worked as a Fitter. Harry also known as 'Jim' passed away in 1984 and is buried at Rototai Cemetery with Sonia.
Sonia Carita Holmwood passed away in 2011 aged 92 and is buried at Rototai Cemetery, Tasman.
