Biography
Lucy aka Lulu was born in 1868. She is the daughter of William Galland and Emmeline Rhodes or Rhoades. Lucy married Alexander Charles Mills.[1]
Was this the first form of marriage, or a re-gegistration of a prior event?? Seven of the nine children they had together -- the eldest born in 1891 -- also had their births registered in 1937, the exceptions being Dudley (1893) and Lucy (1910) -- both had died as young children. These are also the only two not to carry the Burfield name. This suggests rather than there was no legal form of marriage until 1937, that these were re-registrations in order to add the Burfield name to all . All the couple's surviving childrens' births were re-registered to them as a couple, in 1937, with the addition of Burfield as an additional name for each of them She passed away in 1953 age 85. [2]
