“Angus” (Ignace) Gallant was born on 10 Nov 1874 & baptized the next day, in the parish of Saint-Augustin, South Rustico, with “Zacharie Doiron & Appoline Gallant” as godparents. He was the eighth-born (& 3rd son) of the 10 children of Polycarpe Gallant & Ursule DesRoches.
He appears in the spring 1881 national census (Lot 24) as being 6 years old.
On 20 Nov 1900, at the church of Saint-Alexis in Rollo Bay (PEI), he married Isabelle Gallant (dr. of Cléophas dit “Theophilus” Gallant & Véronique Buote), with “Jerome Gallant & Mary A. Gallant” as witnesses, and Edward Walker as officiating priest. In the record, his parents are named as “Polycarp Gallant & Rachel [sic] Des Roches.” This was a double wedding, alongside that of his older sister Marie. By the way, also: Isabelle Gallant's oldest sister Lucille had married an older brother of Angus/Ignace, Jean Henri Gallant, in 1892.
