En 1798 au mois, d'avril un recensement nominatif de tous les habitants de l'île Saint-Jean fut fait par Robert Fox., arpenteur, par ordre du Gouverneur Edmund Fanning. Nous le donnons en entier tel qu'imprimé dans la "Royal Gazette" de l'époque, et y ajoutant le nom des mères de familles que nous avons pu recueillir des registres paroissiaux et autres documents de l'époque. Selon ce recensement il y avait en tout à Rustico 237 personnes."
