Eugene Hachet was born Dec 31, 1818 in Chéticamp, Nova Scotia, the son of Simon Hachet and Isabelle Gaudet. He was baptised Jan 1, 1819 in Margaree.[1]
According to one account of the Jesso family, "This Newfoundland family in all probability originaed with Joseph Jessome
of Petit Bras D 'Or, Cape Breton. He arrived at Bay St. George sometime
between 1826-38 although 1826-30 ... The following were almost certainly daughters of Joseph Jessome ... Ursula who married Eugene Gallant."[2]
There are records for the birth and baptism of several of the children Eugene Gallant and Ursula (usually called Ursula Japeau[3]) in the 1850s in Sandy Point. By 1890, they seem to be living in Curling, and were witness at the wedding of Christopher Patrick, and Meariam Sinclair.[4]
