Vina GALLOWAY SKINNER STURTEVANT reported that she was staying with an aunt, perhaps with the Robes, when she was a girl. She went to bed in an upstairs room and left the candle burning when she went to sleep. Later, she awoke to the crackling of a fire and found the room in flames. She escaped but did not report the fate of the home. Was this 1913 at the Robes in Brownsville? email from Clyde M. Senger 23 Feb 2002.

Vina said that as a child, she would see a native American looking in the window at her. She also said a native American tried to buy or trade for her but her father said she was not for sale. She said a native American was once in her bed. I wondered about these stories since I assumed it was a male but there was a woman in the Brownsville area who had lost her husband and child. Clyde M. Senger
