Baptised 27 June 1838 in Cheltenham Gloucestershire
The 1851 Census shows Charles living at Leckhampton working as an errand boy for a butcher, while sisters still live at home with their father Mark.
At age 15 Charles volunteered for military services. He weighed 98 pounds, was 5 feet and 4 inches tall, had dark hair, grey eyes and freckles. The form seems to say he entered on the ship St George and volunteered for service until age 28, but was discharged after 1 month?
Death certificate gives Charles' occupation as a pointsman on the railway. He died of Pthisis (aka tuberculosis or consumption) at 13 St Philip street Leckhampton. His father Mark was present.
