Biography
Josiah Gallup, the tenth child of Benadam Gallup III (1716-1800) and Hannah (Avery) Gallup (1719-1799), was born at Groton, Connecticut, in 1760.
He married first, Sarah Fish, November 4, 1787; she died February 11, 1791.
Josiah Gallup married second, Mary Randall, November 11, 1792; there were 5 children by this second wife, born at Groton:
- Josiah Gallup (1793-1833), b. 30 Aug 1793
- Charles Randall Gallup (1795-1868), b. 9 Jul 1795; married Olive Morgan
- Benjamin Franklin Gallup (1797-1882), b. 1 Aug 1797; married Hannah Allyn
- Mary Ann Gallup (1799-), b. 30 Aug 1799
- Hannah Avery Gallup (1801-), b. 21 Nov 1801
Mary (Randall) Gallup died November 30, 1847, aged 81.
Josiah Gallup died June 29, 1826; his remains were buried with both wives at Gallup Burying Ground, Ledyard, Connecticut [1].
