DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
Gambel-12 and Gambell-19 appear to represent the same person because: I had John Gambell's name spelled with one "L," so a match did not come up when I entered the name . Then I added his wife Sarah Sally Rogers, and found that she was already paired with John Gambell (Gambell-19) whose information matches mine precisely. I'm sure they're the same man, and I understand that name-spelling in the 18th century was variable.
