Biography

Josiah Gambie was born in Cambridgeshire, England.

Josiah was born in 1847. He was the son of James Gambie and Mary Hale. ^[1]

In 1851, he was living at Thriplow Toll Gate, Whittlesford and he was 3 years old.^[2]

In 1861, he was living in Royston, Hertfordshire and he was 13 years old. (age is given as 23 on Family Search but that is wrong). He was working as an Agricultural Labourer. ^[3]

He married Mary Law in the third quarter of 1872 in Royston, Hertfordshire. ^[4]

In 1881, he was 32 years old and living in Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire. He was working as an Agricultural Labourer. ^[5]

By 1891, he was 43 years old and working as a Roadman in Fowlmere, Hertfordshire.^[6]

In 1901, he was working as a Roadman for Cambridgeshire County Council. ^[7]

in 1911, he was 63 years old and living in Chapel House, Fowlmere. He was still a roadman with Cambridge County Council but was also a Caretaker of the church. ^[8]

He passed away in 1914.
