Reed was a farmer. James Gambrell lived next door.
In 1860 he was living in 42nd Regiment, Anderson, South Carolina.[2] The household included Reed Gambrell 48, Mary Gambrell 40, James Gambrell 22, Duffey Gambrell 20, Elizabeth Gambrell 18, Sarah Gambrell 16, and Artimissa Gambrell 4. Reed was a farmer. James and Duffey were farm laborers.
James Gambrell and Maria Payne were married about 1859.
He served for the Confederacy as a Private in Company D, 18th Regiment, South Carolina Infantry.[3]
He died 23 Apr 1876 in Anderson County, South Carolina
and is buried in Saint Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery, Anderson County, South Carolina.[4]
