Biography
James Porter Gammill, son of Patrick Ginley Gammill and Bridig McManamon, was born about 1735. James Gammill passed away in 1794.
He married twice:

I am DNA matching on ancestry regarding many Gammills off of James Porter Gammill and slowly building that tree up with documentation on ancestry; anyone is welcome to look just email me so I can invite you to the tree; otherwise you can probably look it up; I have studied the Gammills for all of several months so this synopsis is just a recap: The Gammills came from Scotland, I believe they may have been weavers and blacksmiths by trades perhaps more; They had family in the New York area of the country of some relationship, has not been determined but similar Gammills are found in New York and surrounding in the mid 1700s. Patrick Gammill was James Gammills father and I don't exactly know how many children, perhaps the ones in NY were his other older children? Anyway James Gammill and his children were in North Carolina in the early Colonial days, and for some reason decided to immigrate to TN (land grant reasons most likely and the land was being over used). So in 1794 after James death, the children and grandchildren and possibly side relatives moved to District 6, Hardin County TN and some ended up in Bedford County TN as well. All those Gammill I am now trying to get straight. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm working on the ones that I'm related to, and it's several lines off of each generation! This Gammill line is NEW to me and I've been doing family history for 30 plus years, never even noticed them in Hardin Co TN and now I'm tripping on them everywhere!
