Matilda passed away at an age of seventy-seven on August 3, 1900 in Evansville. She is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville.[2][3][4][5]

The 1860 census shows that Clara Kicher (54, born in France) and Elizabeth Kicher (17, born in El Of Hessia[German?]) lived in the same house. Were they her relatives?
Her maiden name may be Karges or Kasgus.
