Obituary[1]
Jack Arnold Gammon Our sweet and loving father, grandfather, brother, husband and friend; Jack Arnold Gammon, 74, of Provo returned home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 15, 2005. His valiant and loving spirit and his contagious smile will be greatly missed by all who have had the opportunity to know him.
Jack was born the first of four children to Franklin Gammon and Velda Breinholt Gammon Roper on April 30, 1930 in Richfield, Utah. He finished his education in the Provo City Schools, graduating from Utah Technical College in Provo. After moving to Provo, Jack met and eventually married his eternal sweetheart, Coralie Scott on January 17, 1951 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Jack also had the opportunity to valiantly serve our country in the U.S. Navy. Jack was a gifted machinist and he worked at his chosen vocation at US Steel Geneva Works in Orem. Jack taught each of his eight daughters to have a love and appreciation of our beautiful God given world through his love of camping, fishing, hunting and golf. One of his greatest joys and comforts for the past several years has been in being able to join with his "golfing buddies" of the "Over the Hill Gang" in a lovely sunshiny game of golf. He has loved those men and so much appreciated their association and friendship. Jack was a talented, self-taught guitarist and a beautiful bass vocalist. Here again, he instilled within each of his daughters' hearts a love of music and of singing together. He has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served selflessly in several of the Provo Sunset Wards.
Jack is survived by his sweetheart and eternal companion, Coralie and his eight grateful daughters. They are: Lynda Christopherson (Robert) of Highland, Sharon Velluto (Salvatore) of West Jordan, Virgina Phillips (Arthur) of Provo, Cathy Brown (James) of Springville, Janeen Marsigli (Rico) of Pleasant Grove, Louise Fullmer (Jeff) of Riverton, Suzi Whiting (Jan) of Springville, and Ruthanne Hahn (Keith) of Orem. Jack has been heard on numerous occasions to say how blessed he was not only to have eight daughters but, also eight wonderful sons-in-law. He has always been an exceptional loving father and the unifying life force of our family. Jack is also survived by his two sisters and one brother. They are: Shirley (Robert) Andreasen, Janet (Bob) Clements, and Bruce (Linda) Gammon, all of Provo. Grandpa also leaves behind 34 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who are the love of his heart. Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father, and by two infant granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at the Sunset 9th Ward LDS Chapel, 1560 South 1100 West, Provo.
