Biography

Lena Nelson Gammons was born on January 29, 1874 in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts to Ebenezer Nelson Gammons and Betsey Arletta Atwood. [1] She, her mother and sister, were living with her grandparents at the time of the 1880 census, her father having recently died. [2] She married Webster Elliott Chester Vaughan on July 2, 1894 in Middleborough, and they had a daughter Mildred Eunice, born January 15, 1895. [3] In 1900 and 1910 she lived in Carver.[4][5] By 1920 she is listed as a widow in the census record. [6] By 1930 she was living with her son-in-law and daughter in Lakeville. [7] In 1940 she is no longer living with them, but she is listed in 1938 according to the Social Security claim application record. [8]
