The name of Britton's first wife, the mother of two sons (Brittain2 and John), is not known. His second wife was the widow of Thomas Holland, Mary [Ross] Holland, who bore Brittain a posthumous son named Edward. This Edward is believed to be Edward Gandy who married Mary Thurman, sold his property in Nash County in 1805, and moved to Gandy's Cove in Morgan County, AL (formerly Cataco County) ca. 1815, He is also thought to be the Edward Gandy who served in the War of 1812 from that area.
