Research Notes

Military Service: in Georgia.[3][4]

Nasworth W. Gandy served in the CSA in Company E, 50 GA Infantry, along with his brothers (Francis Marion, John Madison, and Jarret Irwin). Thomas County marriage records show that "N.W. Gandy" married Georgia Ann Davis. He is described the CSA records as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with red hair, grey eyes, and a fair complexion. The details of his capture are mission, although he was paroled in Thomasville, GA, on May 12, 1865. (note: Confederate soldiers were considered to be criminals by Union forces, and a captured soldier was "paroled" after he signed an oath of allegiance to the Union)
