Daniel Gandy Jr. served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: Sep 30, 1861 Mustered out: Jun 14 or 20, 1865 Side: CSA Regiment(s): Private Co B, 17th Regiment Louisiana Infantry
Buried in Row 8 of the Self Cemetery in Vernon Parish between his wives Nancy and Louisa. His tombstone confused me for a long time, partly because of this and because his mother was also a Nancy. It reads “Gandy, Daniel R. 28 Sep 1844/9 Jan 1929 (s/o DR & Nancy Gandy).”
