Biography

Rita Fern Gandy was born on Dec 7, 1944 in Tahoka Texas.^[1] She was the daughter of Clifford Menford Gandy and Mildred James. Rita married Charles R. Mason on Oct 9, 1964 in Tahoka Texas. She passed away on Aug 20, 2006 in Post Texas and was laid to rest in Terrace Cemetery in Oast Texas.^[2]

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Mon., Aug. 21, 2006 Services for RITA MASON, 61, of Post, Texas, will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday at the Post Church of Christ with Travis Sweet officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Cemetery, under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home. She died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006 at her home. She was born to Clifford and Mildred Gandy on Dec. 7, 1944 in Tahoka. She married Charles Mason on Oct. 9, 1964 in Tahoka. They farmed in Lynn and Garza County. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Charles Mason of Post; one son, Ray Mason and wife Celia of Post; one daughter, Krisha Hoelscher and husband Doug of Levelland; five brothers, Karl Gandy of Grandview, Menford Gandy of Tahoka, Berry Gandy of Lubbock, Jimmy Brown of Oklahoma and Mike McDonald of Grandview; five sisters, Neva Barrett of Grandview, Kay Gandy of Tahoka, Cherry Gandy of Tahoka, Elaine McDonald of Florida and Willie Thorne of Carlsbad, N.M.; and five grandchildren, Wes and Ben Mason, both of Post, and Sutton, Abby and Harlea Hoelscher, all of Levelland.
