Biography

Mark was born in 1779 in MD. Mark's father was Perry Gannon and his mother was Esther Andrew. His paternal grandparents were Charles Gannon and Rebecca Perry; his maternal grandparents were George Andrew and Mary Beauchamp. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William, Beacham, George, John, Jane, UNKNOWN, UNKNOWN and Mary "Polly". He was the oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 49 in 1828 in , Warren, Tennessee. He was buried in Philadelphia Cemetery, Beersheba, Warren County.

PATSEY GANNON AND MARY GANNON CONTRIBUTED LAND, WHICH WAS USED TO RAISE MONEY TO BUILD CANNON COUNTY'S FIRST COURTHOUSE IN 1836. IT BURNED DOWN IN 1934 AND WAS REPLACED BY THE CURRENT COURTHOUSE. AT THIS TIME PATSEY WAS A WIDOW, SO MARK DIED BEFORE 1836.

IN 1800 IN GUILFORD COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA MARK WAS HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD, AGED 16-25 WITH A WIFE AND DAUGHTER UNDER 10. 1800 census Guilford Co., NC, pg 631, Mark GANNON; 1 male 16-18, 1 female 0-10, 1 female 16-18.

ACCORDING TO STERLING SPURLOCK BROWN, HISTORIAN OF CANNON COUNTY, MARK AND PATSEY GANNON AND MARY GANNON ARRIVED IN TENNESSEE ABOUT 1806.

1810 census, NC, Mark is not listed. Most of the 1810 Census, TN is missing, Mark is not listed.

, BUT MARK WAS ON THE GUILFORD COUNTY TAX LIST OF 1815, AND ACCORDING TO THE CENSUS OF 1850 (CANNON COUNTY DISTRICT 6, HOUSE 140) AND 1860 (HOUSE 104) MARY WAS BORN 1812-13.

Mark served as a First Corporal in the NC Cavalry in the War of 1812. Mark moved to western Warren County, TN about 1818. The first settlers arrived in this area about 1807. This area became Cannon County in 1836. They lived on the south side of the Stones River near Hollis Creek.

IN 1830 PATSEY WAS A WIDOW IN WARREN COUNTY. IN 1836 CANNON COUNTY WAS CREATED FROM RUTHERFORD, WARREN AND SMITH COUNTIES AND IN 1840 AND THEREAFTER SHE APPEARED ON CENSUS IN CANNON COUNTY.

IN 1850 AND 1860 SHE AND HER DAUGHTER MARY ESCUE AND NEPHEW JOHN P. GANNON, WITNESSED BY GEORGE GANNON.
