Biography

In 1855, Permelia Ganung age 45, born in Westchester, NY, had resided in Middletown, Delaware, NY for 35 years. 1855 census entry: Jacob Myers 47, wife Permelia (Ganung) Myer 44, b. Aug 30, 1811 in Westchester, NY. " [1]

Based on the 1855 census data Permelia was born in Westchester, NY on Aug. 30, 1811 and moved to Middletown, NY in 1820, probably with her parents, since she was only 10 when she moved.

Permelia married Jacob Myers, about 1831, after the 1830 census and before her first child was born in 1832. She lived in Middletown, Delaware, NY and had 9 children there. [2]

Permelia's parents may have lived in either Westchester Co. or Delaware Co. during the 1820 census, since they apparently moved that year.

Ganung families in 1820 Census, Westchester, NY with a daughter under 10: Abraham Ganoung, 2m<10, 2m10-16, 1m26-45, 1f<10, 1f26-45. (Abraham probably died in Middletown, Delaware, NY. The Middletown Cemetery has an Abbrigam Ganung.) Lanson Ganong, 2m<10, 1m26-45, 1f<10, 1f26-45. [6]

Ganung families in 1820 Census, Delaware, NY with a daughter under 10: James Gonung 1m<10, 1m26-45, 1f<10, 1f16-26. [7] Assume: Jason <5, James 25, b.1775-1794; Rachel 1, Deborah Jenkins 22, b.1794-1804. Apparently not Permelia's parents. Maybe a brother or uncle.
